A member asked:

Mom is type 2 diabetes but dr stopped her from taking diabetes medicines and wants her to take only insulin 3 times daily. but isn't that wrong and increase insulin resistance how to know if the insulin she is taking not causing insulin resistance?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Insulin resistance" is a myth created to explain a more complex issue and sometimes sell dietary supplements. Adult onset diabetics can make insulin & it works fine, they just don't make enough for the diet they consume. Oral meds try to extend the effect of self made insulin, but it can fail. Insulin is a complex molecule and if you don't make enough you need more. The doc is a good one.
