Hello dear doctors! i am sorry for asking this question. does doxycyline for 10 days prevent syphilis infection if you taken this med about 13 days post exposure?

If you take it for 2 weeks then doxycycline, 100 mg, twice a day, can be effective for treating primary syphilis rather than using it 10 days as a post exposure prophylaxis (too late for this). For post exposure prophylaxis: two doxycycline (100 mg) oral tablets taken within 24 hours of sexual intercourse may decrease the risk of syphilis acquisition by over 73%. Good luck.
