A member asked:

I got a blood test for mg because of drooping eyelids and double vision that get worse with fatigue. the test came back negative for both achr and musk antibodies. does this rule out the possibility or could it still be mg? i only have eye symptoms?

A neurologist or ophthalmologist can assist in the next step with clinical tests such as the ice test and electrophysiologic tests, particularly single-fiber electromyography, which have a valuable role in diagnosis of MG https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36778719/

A minority of myasthenic cases may have negative serologies early on, and this should be repeated in about 60-90 days. A Tensilon Test may be useful. If you solely possess localized Ocular Myasthenia, an EMG study of musculature may not be useful. In some cases, a medication trial might be appropriate. Consider a second opinion.
