I have fatty liver and high triglycerides. 67 yr. old . i have been taking acetaminophen for pain of arthritis and back pain spondylosis. can the acetominophen be causing increase in fatty liver along with a poor diet and lack of exercise?

May be best to avoid Tylenol if there are pre-existing liver abnormalities. The usual amounts that are risky are about 4 grams or higher daily, but with pre-existing liver problems, you could encounter complications at a lower dose, especially if you also consume alcohol.

Although large doses of acetaminophen can’t be bad for the liver, in general, acetaminophen does not cause fatty liver. I would avoid regular use of acetaminophen until you get your liver evaluated, however. Good luck.
