The rest of that work up would depend on what other symptoms you are describing at that time. It is likely that you would have some blood tests performed and it is possible that you may have x-rays, such as a chest x-ray or even a CT scan of the chest, among other possibilities. Blood work and possibly imaging is done depending on details in history and findings on exam. The work up is not geared towards finding a diagnosis, but rather to ruling out known life threatening conditions suggested at presentation and this is where going repeatedly to er in order to find a diagnosis is not productive, but rather frustrating.
