White or light discoloration of skin can be caused by trauma, fungal infection or dryness. It should resolve within a few weeks. See your Dr if it does not resolve in this time period. Cancer of the skin is typically darker and forms a raised mass. Cancer of the breast is usually felt as lumps and does not present as white/light patches.
