Open sores in the genital region always carry a high suspicion of sexually transmitted infection. Have it checked by a Dr in person ASAP as there may be a simple treatment. Waiting may result in more severe problems. Best case scenario, if it is just a wound, then you will have ruled out the more serious of the concerns.
