Do you have an established diagnosis of cardiomyopathy & if so, what type? If it's from past heart attacks an intracardiac defibrillator along with use of ACE inhibitors, diuretics, certain new cardiac meds,&left ventricular assist devices have been able to postpone cardiac transplantation for years. Your cardiologist is by far the best person to answer your question.

That is understandably worrisome, however there are multiple ways the prognosis can be improved. The critical point will be to establish with a cardiologist who would be best to go over options for treatment and surveillance. Some sudden changes may be due to acute conditions that may improve in time, some others are chronic and remain in same range.
