It should: But there are no guarantees. If the pressure from the infection damaged the nerve or the blood supply to that region, the paresthesia may be permanent. That is the worst case scenario.

Most likely: Just get that tooth removed as soon as possible. I wouldn't worry about worst case scenarios. When you leave you house, you don't worry about worse case scenarios, do you? Hopefully not. I have yet to see permanent numbness from an abscessed tooth and have been practicing for over 40 years.
