A member asked:

I 'm concerned about ferritin level - it's 11 (range 10-232). rest of my iron studies are - iron 74 ( range 50-175) hgb 15.5 range(11-15.5) iron % saturation 19%(range 10-60), tibc 388 (range 250-425). is this worrisome? will eating red meat help?

Your ferritin is relatively low (some laboratories take 15 at the lower limit) and TIBC on the higher side of normal but your Hb is still normal so occult blood loss is less likely but can't be ruled out in early stage. I guess you are already in menopause so you should have appropriate GI screening test if it has not been done yet. Green leaves and red meat are good iron sources. Good luck.
