Lymphedema, especially when it is not controlled can cause itchy, red, warm skin, and sometimes a rash. You can also get wounds that do not heal and also and risk of skin infections that may cause pain, redness, and swelling. Prolongued lymphedema can cause thickening or hardening of the skin or a tight feeling in the skin. When this happen pressing on the swollen area often does not leave a dent.
