Should i use a sling to keep my shoulder still after having a trapezius muscle injury? no imaging done but doctor says it sounds like a trapezius muscle strain. she prescribed steroids &muscle relaxers & told me to use heat. would a sling help or no?

If a sling makes it feel more comfortable then use one. Not required but can use one until it settled down more.
