Yes: As the muscles of the back and the neck tighten they pull on the muscles of the chest, pull the ribs to a disadvantaged position even for breathing. The pull alone causes tightness, and the pull on the ribs can even change the position of the diaphragm for breathing. Ask your doctors for proper pain medicine, and muscle relaxants and perhaps physical therapy if needed.
