Hi, my mother has mild schizophrenia and she is under treatment i wanted to know if the risk of me developing schizophrenia is high if i smoke weed i only want to try it once?

You may be genetically predisposed to the disorder & marijuana users have a higher risk of developing the disorder. Use of the drug prior to age 30 has a higher risk of inducing addictive behavior.

I agree with Dr. Ferguson's answer and I would like to add that there are young people who may have had an underlying predisposition to schizophrenia that was dormant and might never come out but when they smoked marijuana the hallucinogenic effects of THC provoked psychosis and they became ill.
