A member asked:

Had ultrasound to check on a fibroid. i just finished a period, but it was found that my endometrium looked thick. dr. now wants me to come back for a saline ultrasound. but having no pain, heavy bleeding, etc. age 44. regular periods. is it necessary?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The initial ultrasound having shown a "thickened endometrium" , depending on the actual dimensions of the "thickening", should be sufficient to determine whether a biopsy is indicated. If the endometrium is less than one centimeter, with the history included in the question, a second ultrasound is usually not necessary.
