There is a small bone of the wrist in that area that could be bruised or even fractured leading to the symptoms you are describing. This can be injured by putting pressure on it-like falling on an outstretched hand. You can see a hand surgeon for evaluation, including x-rays, to diagnose and treat the problem. It could also be sprained or have tendonitis among other possibilities. Good luck!
