It sounds like you are describing an over correction of your bunion deformity. That very well can happen but should not have happened. You did not say when surgery performed. Answer to your question is yes. Anything you can do to hold the toe in a proper position is of benefit . However, if surgery has been months unlikely to change the position of the toe. But no harm in positioning yourself.
