Do not take both drugs. Augmenting IS amoxicillin (plus clavulanic acid). There is no point in taking both drugs. Stop the amoxicillin and continue amoxicillin-clav (Augmentin).

You shouldn’t take both at the same time because Augmentin also has amoxicillin in it. You should let the doctor who prescribed the amoxicillin know you are already taking Augmentin. If you need to extend the course of the Augmentin for the ear infection, that is what you should do. Or, prescribe a different antibiotic entirely if the infection developed while you were already taking Augmentin.
