I have an ear infection&have been ill for 7 weeks.amoxicillin failed.now on augmentin for 5 days so far but feel v.little improvement.some minor pain in ear but feel physically awful.dr says to persevere for full week,but wouldnt i be better by now?

Prolonged ear infect: Has a culture been taken? I have seen fungal ear infections as well as MRSA - staph infection requiring Bactrim or Doxy- may also consider eczema or psoriasis. other bacteria resistant to amox like pseudomonas which responds to levaquin/ ofloxacin drops Follow up w/ ENT as they can irrigate the ear and take cultures , They also have several treatments a primary provider may not have.
