A member asked:

Can you have polycystic ovaries on ultrasound but still go on to develop a dominant follicle and ovulate normally?i am asking bcoz in every ultrasound i have many follicles, but blood tests are always normal indicating ovulation so is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If specific testing for ovulation is positive, it is unusual for this to happen on a regular basis given a diagnosis of "PCOS". While ovulation can occur with PCOS, it is most often not a monthly event. See your GYN physician for guidance on taking oral bcp's which stop ovarian hormone production .
