A member asked:

She appears cachectic & had wasting of her right apb, with reduced power rt finger abduction, as well as in her in left hip flexion. her tone was normal, reflexes were depressed and absent in the ankles with downgoing plantars what does this mean??

First, the best way to interpret this is to inquire directly from the physician involved. Cachexia is chronic wasting and loss of bodily bulk. Mentioned are focal muscular problems in the right hand and left hip. The reflexes suggest peripheral neuropathy. But all of this needs clinical correlation. If this is you, or a relative, don't you have a right to further understanding?
