Albuterol inhalers are safe to use for short term and immediate relief of asthma symptoms but it is a "rescue inhaler" in most circumstances and there are much more effective ways to control asthma using prescribed maintenance therapy. A good internist can help you until you can get into a pulmonary expert if that becomes necessary.
