The urinary retention after surgery is often triggered by the anesthetic medication. But, the reason it is continuing may be due to an enlarged prostate or some other factor. You should see a urologist, if you haven’t already. If you have an enlarged prostate, there are medicines that can help. Good luck to you!

People with enlarged prostate or a bladder problem which was not clinically manifest as symptoms, prior to surgery can do this. The cath probably caused the infection. Pl see a Urologist. Once the cause is found and treated you will be fine. good luck
