Taking two 500mg Valtrex is not harmful, but is not going to hasten HSV attenuation, nor act to prevent lesions, more than the normal dose of Valtrex.

Always take meds as prescribed. Valtrex is prescribed commonly in 1g or 1000 mg doses and it does come in 1 g strength as well.
