So i have contracted lice for the first time. due to allergies my dr and pharmacy said dont use the otc stuff. dr called in malathion 0.5% my insurance will not cover it and its 300.00 dollars. i cant afford that. what else can i do??

I would contact your doc and see if they are comfortable prescribing Ivermectin. This is not commonly used for this purpose but a single dose repeated in 10 days has been shown to be effective in eliminating lice. The drugs has been approved for human use for more than 45 years but has few uses.
