Im allergic to the otc for lice. so i sat down and smothered my head in conditioner and had 2 people start picking through my hair. with a lice comb. this is my first time having it. we got our actual lice and the nits/babies. will this method work?

This can work if all of the lice and nits are removed. Would recommend keeping an eye out over the next week or 2 for live lice in case all were not removed. Then the process may need to be repeated. It is also important to clean bedding, towels, and hair coverings well.
