A member asked:

I have numerous gallstones detected with a ultrasound and a endoscopy 2 years ago ... i have not had any pain or stomach issues during that time ... does this mean that i have silent gallstones ? surgeon wants to remove gallbladder .. i am 73 yrs?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

In view of presence of numerous gall stones, I favor removal of the gall bladder as you're at risk for attacks of cholecystitis anytime. It's like living with a time bomb in your abdomen especially if stones increase in size. I tell such patients attacks could occur when on vacation, overseas,on a cruise, etc.
