A member asked:

27 y/o. history of nsvt, hypertension, antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. normal weight, no diabetes. family history of sudden cardiac death. frequent chest pain with exertion. doc tried amlodipine which helped. does this mean angina & cad?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Amlodipine may prevent spasms of coronary arteries as well as prevent hypertension. It is not effective for treatment of angina pectoris caused by atherosclerotic plaques blocking coronary arteries. A negative coronary CT scan angiogram would rule out blockages as a cause of exertional chest pains. You should be followed by a cardiologist electrophysiologist also.
