A member asked:

How effective is amlodipine (norvasc) for treating coronary artery disease (cad)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Indirect: Norvasc (amlodipine) is a calcium channel blocker type of blood pressure medication. It's purpose is to treat and control hypertension. High blood pressure can contribute to the development and worsening of CAD among many other factors so the medication is only indirectly helping to treat CAD. Diet, exercise, and not smoking are all effective in helping combat and even preventing CAD for most people.
