Barrett’s esophagus is a change in the cells lining the end of the esophagus as a result of long-term uncontrolled acid reflux. The altered cells carry a higher risk of esophageal adenocarcinoma, a type of esophageal cancer. It is important to keep your reflux under good control and to get periodic screening of the esophagus to be sure cancer is not developing. Good luck.
