A member asked:

If a patient has severe aortic stenosis and high blood pressure are these two medical issues independent of each other? will have having the aortic valve replaced fix the high blood pressure?

Usually replacing the aortic valve will not mean the blood pressure is normal. Medications may need to be adjusted-it is possible that the blood pressure will be lower and it is possible it will be unchanged after the valve is replaced. The blood pressure will need to be monitored post-operatively. Best of luck to you!

Severe aottifc stenosis and high blood pressure in not usual combo. BP more likely low depending on how severe the stenosis is. Need to find out what is causing the HBP and discuss with your Dr.
