Some strokes are preceded by TIA's which represent typically 20-30 mins. of deficient blood flow, and there may be loss of vision in one eye, unilateral numbness or weakness, etc., but it will fully reverse. Many strokes are sudden without warning, and need immediate clinical attention, so that interventions, such as TPA can be used.
