Usually if one suffers a spinal cord injury severe enough to cause paralysis, the symptoms begin immediately. If you continue to have pain in your neck or if you notice any numbness, tingling, or weakness, go to the emergency room right away. Good luck.

Dr. Seibert's advice is indeed appropriate. If within 24 hrs., the pain has not worsened, you have not developed weakness, numbness, or urinary problems, you have not suffered a spinal cord injury. However the potential for a bony fracture may not necessarily be ruled out, and a ligamentous injury could be considered. Do see your doctor ASAP.
