Sprain: Try moist heat and an anti inflammatory such as Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day with food. Good Luck

There are many: nerves, muscles, ligamentous sources of pain in the neck...it is easily strained. Early on neck pain seems to respond better to ice. Use a bag of frozen peas/ice pack; apply 15-20 minutes 3-4 times a day. Later..heat. Stretching/gentle massage may help. Avoid aggravating activity. Try ibuprofen 600 mg 3-4 times daily (with food). If this doesn't help significantly in 3-4 days, see Doc for eval/Rx
