A member asked:

Can mirtazapine cause rem sleep behavior disorder? if yes, can that lead to parkinsons and dementia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mirtazepine can cause drowsiness and does affect the early phases of sleep, BUT actually decreases the REM sleep phases. There is no documented contribution to a REM sleep disorder that is associated with Lewy Body Disease and/ or Parkinson's.
