A member asked:

I fractured my big toe at the base of the toe, over the ball of my foot. i am 73 and work as a crossing guard. i had a boot, so have been wearing that whenever i have to be out. dr said switch to flat ortho shoe, not good support.what do you think?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You are concerned about the fracture not support. The doctor was recommending a shoe with a rigid sole shoe to prevent flexion/extension at the fracture site. Until the fracture heals all else is secondary After healing a supportive shoe is appropriate for standing
