Pyridostigmine (Mestinon) is a Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) Inhibitor. It's mechanism of action is to stop the destruction of acetylcholine by AChE, which increases acetylcholine and its transmission of impulses at the neuromuscular junction. ACTH is an abbreviation for Adrenocorticotropic hormone, not AChE. Mestinon is FDA approved to treat Myasthenia Gravis and used as a reversal agent

Doctor testing for acth, cortisol, catecholamines, and metanephrine. What is he checking for?
Lightheaded, fatigue, low blood pressures, salt cravings. On very high salt and florinef. Normal AM cortisol. Doctor ordered ACTH stim test. What is that checking and will it likely be normal since AM cortisol was normal?
Doc wants to do an 8am serum cortisol & acth. I have a cold - will it affect test results? Wait until cold is gone? Or doesn't matter?
