Tick bite for 6 year old 24hrs ago. prescribed one dose of doxycycline. i read this med is not ok for 6 years olds, and shouldnt be given. but np says its ok cuz its just one dose. opinions? shes under 100lbs. why is it typically dangerous?

The tetracyclines are avoided under age 8 since they can stain permanent teeth & alter bone formation. It is not clear from the post that any antibiotic was necessary, but I would not worry about a single dose used this way. I don't consider it dangerous but also don't consider it necessary with the information provided.
