Two of the most common possibilities are leukoplakia and lichen planus. You can google them to see photos. See your doctor if it doesn't clear up.

The most common white lesions found on the tongue are lichen planus and leukoplakia. Both lesions are predisposed to oral cancer. You should have this lesion biopsied immediately to rule out oral cancer.
