A member asked:

I've recently been treated for pnemonia and sinus infection. most of my symptoms are gone, but i have a "frog in the throat" and have to force up small amounts of mucus every morning (no cough). the mucus has blood in it, how much should i worry?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The forcing of mucus up every morning can cause a little bleeding and likely the reason. Mucus in the throat is from post nasal drip at night. Would be best to drink plenty of more liquids, take mucinex to thin the mucus and ensure your sinuses are clearing with a decongestant. Chronic sinusitis is often the cause of pneumonia with the post nasal drip. Make sure the the beeding also stops.
