My 82yo dad is in immense pain from costochondritis. injections, pt, pain meds, heat, ice not helping. pain meds causing digestive issues. was improving but now has returned. anything else he can try to offer some relief from the pain? thank you?

Is the diagnosis of costochondritis a certainty? I've never seen such intractable pain with costochondritis or have never seen it in this age group. For diagnostic clarity,I would recommend a bone scan to rule out other causes of this rib cage pain. Rib fracture, multiple myeloma,metastatic malignancy,lymphoma are some conditions to be considered here.
