A member asked:

Ana measured 1:640; then follow up 1:1280. both dense fine speckled. rheum says negative for autoimmune disease, symptoms likely fibro. how can you just ignore an ana that high? is it true dfs doesnt indicate anything?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I agree that this is a high titer raising suspicion of an autoimmune disorder. These tests aren't diagnostic of autoimmune disorders on their own. The clinical findings are the primary measures with ANA only ancillary findings supporting the diagnosis. Other tests can be done. If you're not satisfied with the diagnosis of fibromyalgia, seek a second opinion from another rheumatologist.
