There are many possibilities and examining your knee would be needed to diagnose the problem. You may also need imaging studies like x-rays or MRI. The problem could be a small bone fracture, tendon or ligament issue, soft tissue swelling, etc. So, if this continues, you need to see a doctor for evaluation and treatment.
