Removed a wisdom tooth 7years ago.gum tissue that is left behind in the empty socket sometimes gets swollen and hurts for 2-3 days and then goes back to normal.dent said food might get trapped between gum&next tooth and cause this.what else could?

That is a plausible explanation. If you are bothered by this problem so much you should see a periodontist for tackling that issue. Take care.

It's been 7 years and the surgical site still has not healed? Please have it evaluated by an Oral Pathologist, Oral Surgeon, or Periodontist.
