The tricyclic antidepressant amitriptyline is FDA approved for depression, but used off label for other conditions including pain and insomnia. Newer antidepressants have side effects, but less than this class of antidepressants. Get together with the prescribing doc and formulate a plan for coming off the drug safely, and perhaps considering other medications for treatment. Good luck
