Acne is a stubborn condition and can be difficult to treat. Benzoyl peroxide is a good initial treatment and can be used in combination with salicylic acid. Best recommendation is to work with your primary care physician or your dermatologist and change medication in a stepwise fashion. Tretinoin is helpful for cystic, scarring acne and may be an option for you.

Im using erylik (tretinoin&erythromycin) topical gel. My acne is healing but my skin is getting flaky/dry. Healed spots are still red circles but with no bumps/scars. Should I exfoliate and apply moisturiser? If so in what order should I apply them?
