A member asked:

My 1 month old baby is on nevirapine so i had stopped breastfeeding and started giving lactogen because i was not producing enough. however he has been having constipation ever since i started giving him lactogen. what can i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If your baby is on Nevirapine because of HIV infection do not breasfeed is important so the virus would not be transmitted to the baby by you if it did not happen prior. I do not know what your understanding of constipation however as long as the baby is feeding well what you could do is give some water that was boiled and cooled in between feeds. If the mother does not have HIV let mother drink.
