A member asked:

Calprotectin test from stool sample is 309. severe health anxiety. scared. had gb removed 2 yrs ago and we not able to take my cholestyramine the day of test. had bile diarrhea, hemorrhoids that day. barium ct normal. worry? cancer? so scared?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Negative barium ct scan is reassuring that colon cancer isn't the problem. Elevated fecal calprotectin level suggests inflammation and thus inflammatory bowel disease is a possibility. Elevation of bile acids in stools from malabsorption is a cause of chronic diarrhea. Does your cholestyramine control this? More testing by the gastroenterologist seems indicated such as small bowel investigation.
