There does seem to be and association. Both are associate with obesity , insulin resistance and dyslipidemia as well. Thyroid hormone is important in hepatic glucose and lipid metabolism. Non alcoholic fatty liver, per se, would not cause thyroid nodule, however a single pathologic process may be driving both defects. Evaluation of thyroid nodules includes, scan, needle aspiration, needle biopsy or open biopsy.
