A member asked:

Can small fiber neuropathy cause muscle cramping all over the body?

The symptoms of small fiber sensory neuropathy are primarily sensory in nature and include sensations such as pins-and-needles, pricks, tingling and numbness. Some patients may experience burning pain or coldness and electric shock-like brief painful sensations, but not typically muscle cramping.

Small fiber neuropathy, by anatomy and definition, involves small SENSORY fibers mediating temperature and pin sensations. Muscles are NOT innervated by small fibers. Therefore, muscle cramping is due to a different mechanism.
